Amendments and Revisions on Japanese IP Laws and Examination Guidelines
JPO Annual Report 2024 Released

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) has released the “JPO Annual Report 2024” on July 29, 2024.
In this report, the following key points are included.
- The number of patent applications recovered to 300,000 for the first time since 2019
- The number of patent applications from foreign countries is on an upward trend
- FA Pendency and Total Pendency for patent examination were reduced to 9.4 months and 13.8 months, respectively
