DISTINCTIVE FEATURE DESCRIPTION
By filing a distinctive feature description, the applicant can himself assertively claim the distinctive feature of the design of the application. For example, the applicant can assert the distinctiveness of the design of the application by comparing it to a publicly known design in a manner like that given in the following example.
Example
Conventional air conditioner designs like the publicly known design shown at bottom right provide a straight perpendicular edge at the air intake slits on each side of the unit; imparting an impression of stiffness.
By contrast, the present design forms the edge of the air intake slits on each side of the unit as a slight, shrtened S-curve, a new point not found in prior designs.
This innovation imparts an ompression of warmth and softness to the entire design and constitutes the distinctive feature of this design.
